THE MEMBERS OF JADE
"Struggling with the nightmares in a cyber psychic dream, I am a man, lost, in the machine..." Excerpt from The Machine - "CONCRETE EDEN"
MATT HOWENSTEIN - Guitars
HISTORY: Matt began his guitar playing in his later high school years. Mostly self taught, he began, as with the other members, by playing in local bands before he, Bryan and Rick met and later formed the band AZTEC JADE. At age 35, Matt is credited with coming up with the name for the band, as well as inventing the term "floral genocide" (see Requiem in song lyrics). His playing style includes intricate, yet powerful rhythms, as well as thoughtful and creative solos.
INFLUENCES:
Matt has been influenced by bands such as Rush and Fates Warning, as well as individual artists Steve Morse and John Petrucci.
INTERESTS:
When he's not trying to come up with new riffs, Matt likes to work on his AMX Javelin muscle car, listening to music, hanging out with Rick & Bryan, drawing / painting and working out.
EQUIPMENT:
Matt plays Hamer electric and Ovation acoustic guitars, with a BBE Sonic Maximizer, and a Peavey 5150-120W head, and Mesa Recto cabinets.
