RICK MILLER - Drums

HISTORY:

Rick is considered to be the backbone of the band, not just because he plays drums, but because without his house, AZTEC JADE wouldn't have a place to practice! At age 35, Rick is the eldest member of the jade clan. A self taught drummer, Rick's playing is constantly evolving as evidenced on the "Concrete Eden" CD as he ranges from straight ahead rock to machine gun-like double bass, to intricate textural rhythms. Rick has been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine - April 1999 Issue.

INFLUENCES:

Rick's powerful double bass style stems from influences of artists such as Mike Portnoy and Tommy Aldridge.

INTERESTS:

While he's not pounding on things, Rick enjoys snowmobiling, dirtbike riding, relaxing in his hot tub, playing golf, and kicking band mates out of his house. He and wife Stephanie are also now the proud parents of Jade's littlest member - Brandon Miller. ^_^

EQUIPMENT:

Pearl MMX Master's series drums for live shows and Pearl BLX series drums for studio work. Zildjian cymbals, DW pedals, Remo heads, and Vater drumsticks.
